Una interesante y didàctica  charla nos entregó nuestro apoderado del 7B , Sr. Gabriel Madero  sobre el origen de los terremotos . Nuestros alumnos con esta actividad culminan la unidad de aprendizaje relacionada con la  estructura de la tierra y sus caracterìsicas.

It’s three in the morning. Nature calls. You stagger from your bed, squinting in the darkness as you blindly weave your way past a bookshelf, around the glass cabinet, and down the corridor into the smallest room in the house. Not only do the scientists John O’Keefe, May-Britt Moser and Edvard Moser understand how your brain managed this – they earned themselves a Nobel Prize in the process.
 

May-Britt and Edvard found a  type of nerve cell in a strip of tissue connecting the hippocampus to other parts of the brain. Described as grid cells (due to the pattern of their activation), these nerves seemed to act like a coordinate system. Together, these cells provide you with a mental map and a coordinate system that tells the rest of your brain where your body is in relation to its surroundings. This way you’re able to move around even while you’re unable to see, hear, or smell anything. 

For their research, John, May-Britt and Edvard were awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. 

Many neurological conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease, can dramatically affect the hippocampus region. Knowing more about these cells and how they work can provide new insights and possibly new treatments for those who suffer spatial memory loss.

Tour Atronómico de Profesores Agosto-2014

 

De repente algo que aparece tan lejano se presenta ante nuestros ojos con otras formas y colores . Nos sorprendimos y maravillamos con el brillo de las estrellas y la eterna oscuridad que nos rodea.

VISITA A PARANAL SÊPTIMOS AÑOS BÂSICOS - Sàbado 09 de Agosto.

 

Nuestros estudiantes tuvieron la posibilidad de conocer los telescopios  Antù, Kueyèn, Melipal y Yepùn, conocer su funcionamiento desde dentro  y ademàs visitar las oficinas de control  y  el Hotel emplazado en el mismo lugar (como dato anecdótico, en las dependencias del observatorio Paranal se rodaron, en 2008,  muchas escenas de la película de James Bond "Quantum of Solace").

La improtancia de esta visita radica en que este observatorio  ha estimulado una nueva era de descubrimientos astronómicos, con varias primicias científicas notables, entre ellas, por ejemplo ,  la primera imagen de un planeta extrasolar (eso0842);. Una gran oportunidad para vivir la ciencia con nuestros alumnos.

Taller de Astronomìa Sèptimos Años Bàsicos

Estamos muy contentos de iniciar nuestro taller de Astronomìa para los sèptimos años bàsicos, creemos que van a tener una hermosa experiencia conociendo nuestro universo. Si les maravilla la astronomìa , les aconsejamos el libro : "El Universo en una Càscara de Nuez escrito por Stephen Hawking" , En este libro se utilizan términos muy sencillos para explicar desde los principios que origen el universo, hasta la frontera misma de la física teórica. Hawking nos guía a través de un viaje por el espacio-tiempo, donde partículas, membranas y cuerdas danzan en un espacio undecadimensional, donde los agujeros negros tienen la posibilidad de evaporarse y desaparecer llevándose consigo su secreto, y donde habita la pequeña nuez "la semilla cósmica originaria" de la que surgió nuestro universo.
